I definitely agree that the innovation is soaring and has been explosive compared to where it was in the past decade. Smartphone technology is a very recent concept as it is and already we have seen multiple iterations of Apple, Samsung, Microsoft, and other smartphones. The White house definitely does have a role in increasing transparency and making sure that the individuals who evaluate patents can be knowledgable and correct in their determination. I think its the prerogative of a government to keep up with the times and by taking this initiative, they are sending a strong message that they are involved and trying to make the process easier. However, while pro bono help to startups may help them, it will still not be anywhere close to manpower that these technology giants have. I think there will still be a lot of competition and startups will have to innovate very quickly to stay alive.
